Perhaps someone shared this blog post with you. Perhaps you stumbled across it while searching for hope. Or maybe you've simply found yourself in a season where your heart is longing for a reminder that God is still near.

Wherever you are, I'm so grateful you're here.

Over the past five months, God has been teaching me lessons I never expected to learn. Not through perfect circumstances or easy answers, but through ordinary days filled with questions, waiting, unexpected detours, and quiet moments where all I could do was cling to Him.

As I spent time in His Word, I began writing down what He was teaching me. They weren't sermons. They weren't polished devotionals. They were simply honest reflections from a heart learning, day by day, that God's faithfulness never depends on my circumstances.

Those reflections became "Strength for Today."

Each week, we'll open God's word together, encourage one another, wrestle honestly with life's challenges, and remind our hearts that no matter what we face, God is already there.

I don’t write as someone who has all the answers, instead I choose to share as someone still learning to trust the One who does.

Wherever these words find you today, take a slow, steady breath and allow your heart to quiet for a moment. Let’s sit together, open God’s Word, and remember His faithfulness.

Week One: The Strength We Didn't Know We Needed

Have you ever looked back and recognized a season that quietly changed everything? At the time, it may have seemed insignificant, like disappointment, a detour, or a season you never would have chosen. But looking back, you realize that while you were focused on simply getting through it, God was quietly transforming you through it.

I think we all experience seasons like that, moments that divide our stories into “before” and “after.” Sometimes the dividing line comes through a phone call, a diagnosis, the loss of someone we love, a broken dream, or a prayer that seems unanswered. Other times, it comes more quietly: through plans slowly unraveling, waiting that lasts longer than expected, or the realization that life is not unfolding the way we imagined.

Most of us don’t recognize those moments while we’re living them. We only understand them when we look back. If there’s one thing God has been teaching me, it’s this: He often does His deepest work in the chapters we would have skipped if we had been given the choice.

None of us asks for hardship or prays for suffering. Yet throughout Scripture, we see God meeting ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. Moses encountered Him in the wilderness. David found Him in caves. Esther discovered purpose in uncertainty. Paul learned that God’s grace was sufficient, even when the thorn remained. Their circumstances were different, but their God was the same.

One verse that has anchored my heart over and over again:
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you." ~ Isaiah 43:2

God doesn’t say IF you pass through the waters. He says WHEN. He knows trials will come, but He promises something far greater than an easy life - His presence. THAT changes everything.

So why start this series?

Over the past five months, I’ve discovered something I didn’t expect. God often speaks most clearly when life becomes quiet. In seasons when I couldn’t fix what was broken, rush the waiting, or see what tomorrow held, I opened my Bible; not because I had all the answers, but because I desperately needed the One who did.

Some mornings, I turned to God’s Word looking for answers. Instead, I found His presence, and I realized something beautiful: Even though my circumstances didn’t change, I was changing.

My faith grew deeper.
My prayers became more honest.
My dependence on Jesus became more real.

Now I can see that God was preparing me in places where I once wondered if He had forgotten me.

Maybe that’s where you are today.
Maybe you’re carrying a burden no one else can see.
Maybe you’re waiting for an answer that still hasn’t come.
Maybe you’re holding your family together while quietly wondering who is holding you.
Maybe you’ve smiled all week while your heart was breaking.

If so, hear this from my heart: God sees you.

He sees every tear you've cried, even the ones no one else has noticed.
He hears the prayers you cannot seem to find the words to speak.
He knows the questions you've whispered into the silence, the fears you've carried behind your smile, and the burdens you've hidden deep within your heart.

Through it all, He has never, not for one moment, forgotten you.

One of the greatest misconceptions about faith, is believing that trusting God means never feeling afraid. Scripture tells a different story…

The men and women we admire throughout the Bible knew fear. They wrestled with doubt, uncertainty, and impossible circumstances. Yet they chose to trust the God who was greater than their fears.

Faith is not the absence of fear. Faith is choosing to believe that God is faithful, even while fear is still whispering. It's taking the next step when you can't see the entire path. It's trusting that God's hand is still at work, even when His plan has not yet become clear.

Sometimes faith is bold enough to move mountains.
Sometimes it's quiet enough to whisper, "Jesus, help me."
Sometimes faith looks like opening your Bible when your heart feels heavy.
Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed, putting one foot in front of the other, and believing that "His mercies are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22–23), even when yesterday left you weary.

I don't know what you're carrying today, but I do know this:

The same God who parted the Red Sea...
The same God who stood beside Daniel in the lions' den...
The same God who walked with the disciples through stormy seas...
The same God who rolled the stone away from an empty tomb...
Is the very same God who walks with you today.

He has not changed.
He has not abandoned His children.
He has not forgotten your story.

Whatever this week holds, you do not have to face it alone. The Lord has already gone before you. He walks beside you with every step, and when your strength begins to fail, He promises to carry you.

That is the hope we'll hold onto together each week. Not because life is easy, nor because every prayer is answered the way we expect; but because our God is unfailingly, unchangingly, and forever faithful.

This Week's Reflection

Before you continue with your day, take a quiet moment with the Lord. Ask yourself:

Where have I been focusing more on my circumstances than on God's faithfulness?

Then pause long enough to remember.

Remember how He has carried you before.
Remember the prayers He has already answered.
Remember the doors He has opened, the strength He has provided, and the grace that has sustained you through every season.

Then thank Him, not only for what He has already done, but for what He is doing right now, even if you cannot yet see it. Faith often takes root and grows deepest in the quiet soil of gratitude.

A Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for meeting us exactly where we are today. Thank You that we never have to pretend to have everything together before coming into Your presence. You already know our fears, our questions, our disappointments, and every burden we have carried into this moment.

When life feels uncertain, anchor our hearts in the unchanging truth of who You are. When we grow weary, renew our strength. When fear grows louder than faith, quiet our anxious thoughts with the gentle assurance that You are near, You are working, and You are still in control.

Open our eyes to recognize Your hand, not only in the miracles, but also in the waiting. Teach us to trust that even when we cannot trace Your hand, we can always trust Your heart.

May our lives become living testimonies of Your goodness and Your faithfulness; and may every trial draw us closer to you Jesus, shaping us more into Your likeness and reminding us that Your grace is always sufficient.

We surrender this week into Your loving hands. Go before us. Walk beside us. Carry us when we are too weary to continue. May everything we think, say, and do bring glory to Your holy name.

A Blessing for Your Week

May the Lord fill your heart with peace that quiets every fear,
Strength that rises above every challenge,
Wisdom for each decision,
And hope that refuses to let go.

May you become increasingly aware that the God who holds your future is already walking beside you today.

May you find strength for today,
Grace for tomorrow,
And the quiet confidence that comes from knowing you are deeply loved by a faithful God.
